TRUSSVILLE — The city of Trussville is getting another unique dining option in 2020.
Half Shell Oyster House has signed on to open a location at 218 Main St. That is the current location of Dollar General, which will be moving into the 400 block of Main Street after the construction of a new building is complete.
Operations Manager for Half Shell Oyster House, Dino Mirando, said he expects the restaurant to open in the first quarter of 2020.
“We’re looking forward to getting it open and we think Trussville is a great place,” said Mirando.
On Monday, Sept. 30, Mirando estimated construction would start in 60-90 days. He said that is only a guess because the holidays may mean the permitting and construction process could take longer.
According to its website, Half Shell Oyster House has eleven other locations. It is based out of Mississippi and offers charbroiled oysters, New Orleans style shrimp, burgers and sandwiches, along with other choices. Seafood specialties include classic Shrimp and Grits and hearty Seafood Pot Pie.
The website promises, “whatever you choose, it’ll be served with warm Southern hospitality in a unique atmosphere that complements the food.”
There are also Half Shell Oyster House locations in Tuscaloosa, Mobile and Spanish Fort. Another location in Lakeview will be built after the Trussville restaurant is complete.
