CENTER POINT — Week six has come and gone and the three teams within The Trussville Tribune coverage area that saw action this week all came away from their respective games victorious. There were two teams with bye weeks: Pinson Valley and Clay-Chalkville.
Hewitt-Trussville and Springville both snapped losing skids. The Huskies’ streak stopped at two games, and the Tigers halted a three-game losing streak.
As with every win, there are players who have stepped up and excelled. For Hewitt-Trussville, that player was Malachi Moore. He recorded an interception in the Huskies’ victory over Huffman. For Springville, there was Kobye Payton. He recorded a touchdown on special teams, as well as hauling in a receiving touchdown and rushing touchdown.
As always, choosing this week’s MVP of the week has been difficult, but a winner must be chosen regardless. So without further ado, week five’s OrthoAlabama Spine & Sports Player of the week goes to: Center Point’s Jayson Jones.
Jones, who repeats as player of the week, hauled in 13 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown. He scored the game-winning two-point conversion on a run down the middle in a 22-21 victory over Homewood.
