AUBURN — Auburn quarterback Bo Nix was named the SEC freshman of the week after passing for 335 yards and two touchdowns in a 56-23 victory against Mississippi State this past Saturday. He also rushed for 56 yards and another score.
Nix set an Auburn freshman single-game record by accounting for 391 yards of total offense.
This is the second time Nix has been named the freshman of the week. The former Pinson Valley star also earned the honor following his debut on Aug. 31 in which he threw a game-winning, 26-yard touchdown pass to Seth Williams in a victory against then-No. 11 Oregon.
Nix is the first Auburn quarterback to record 300 yards passing and 50 yards rushing since Cam Newton did it during the 2010 SEC Championship Game. Nix’s 335 passing yards were also the third-most by an Auburn freshman.
