From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — Kids attending Trussville’s National Night Out will be given safety preparation bags and free bike helmets from Academy Sports + Outdoors.
Academy wants to promote bike safety during the annual community event. There will also be a decoration station for kids to personalize their helmets with stickers and colorful markers.
The announcement comes one week after Academy partnered with The Trussville Police Department for Big Oak Ranch “Shop with a Cop.” The kids were given a $300 shopping spree.
National Night Out will be Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the Target/Academy parking lot. National Night Out is a community outreach that helps build relationships between communities and law enforcement. There will be music and kid activities. In addition to festivities, law enforcement provides citizens with safety demonstrations, visits from emergency personnel, and much more.
