CENTER POINT — The city of Center Point is celebrating National Night out on Oct. 1, 2019. This year’s event will begin at 6 p.m. and will go until 7:30 p.m.
City officials will be on hand to meet with citizens to raise awareness of crime and drug prevention, generate support for local anti-crime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and sheriff-community partnerships.
There will be hotdogs and cold drinks provided for attendees. Citizens will have the opportunity to check out crime-fighting tools such as a bomb squad robot and a helicopter. Center Point Fire District will also have fire engines, a ladder truck, Explorers, Smoke House, Sparky and ambulances there. A rock wall and other activities will be provided.
The city of Center Point, Center Point Fire District, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County E-911, Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama and other local agencies and businesses will be partnering for the event.
Center Point and Jefferson County authorities want to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organizing and fighting back. Neighborhood watch program information will be provided.
Festivities will take place at the Center Point Courthouse Annex at 2651 Center Point Parkway.
