TRUSSVILLE — A man who spent 30 years on Alabama’s death row, for a crime he didn’t commit, spoke to Hewitt-Trussville High School students on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019.
More than 100 students listened as Anthony Ray Hinton, a community educator for the Equal Justice Initiative, spoke about his life.
Hinton’s memoir, The Sun Does Shine, was used for summer reading for HTHS AP Language students. Hinton gave his testimony and students were able to ask him questions about his experiences as a former inmate.
According to the school, Hinton emphasized the power of unconditional love, the strength of forgiveness and the need for young people to pursue justice in all areas of life.
