ARGO — Crews are installing a storm shelter behind Argo City Hall, off Blackjack Road.
The shelter arrived on Sept. 26, 10 months after the city approved to match a grant to hire a company in Bessemer to construct it.
In anticipation of the shelter’s arrival, the city has prepared the land, installed a foundation and approved the purchase of a large generator for the facility.
When the shelter arrived, crews lifted it and set it on the foundation with a large crane.
The above-ground shelter will hold up to 100 people.
Mayor Betty Bradley said she hopes to have the shelter up and running soon.
