JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of two men in connection to drug crimes.
Deputies were investigating drug and gang activity on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, when they said they spotted suspicious behavior in the 7300 block of Oporto Madrid Avenue. As the deputies approached a group of men, some of them ran. Two men were captured and a search warrant was obtained.
Deputies said they found eight grams of methamphetamine, 87 Xanax pills, three grams of cocaine, 37 grams of Oxycodone, 91 grams of marijuana, one liter of Promethazine, four grams of heroin and one Glock pistol.
Shaquille Q. Calhoun, 26, was arrested and is charged with:
Drug Trafficking bond $100,000.00,
Trafficking in Hydrocodone $100,000.00,
Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance bond $60,000.00.
Attempting to Elude a Police Officer bond $1,000.00,
Unlawfully Carrying a Pistol bond $300.00,
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia bond $300.00,
Possession of Marijuana 1st bond $15,000.00.
Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance bond $7,500.00.
Calhoun was booked into the Jefferson County Jail where he remained Wednesday on bonds totaling $284,100.
Steven Martez Rogers, 25, was also arrested and is charged with:
Attempting to Elude a Police Officer bond $1,000.00,
Possession of Marijuana 2nd bond $300.00 and
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia bond $300.00.
Rogers bonded out of jail on Wednesday, Sept. 25, after posting bonds totaling $1,600.
This investigation is active and more charges of other individuals may result from this search warrant, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Both parties are only charged with crimes and have not been convicted.
