TRUSSVILLE — A Newell, Alabama, man was arrested overnight near the 200 block of Main Street, according to the Trussville Police Department Facebook page. He is facing charges of public intoxication and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer. He is currently in the Trussville City Jail.
The Trussville police responded to a collision involving a Norfolk Southern train and a Honda Pilot that occurred in the 100 block of Railroad Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers discovered that the vehicle was stuck on the train tracks away from the railroad crossing. The vehicle was unoccupied.
During the search for the occupant, the police located Ryan Mitchell, 33, who proceeded to flee. Mitchell was captured following a brief foot chase.
The vehicle was towed and train traffic has since resumed.
