Alvin Awtrey, 85, of Pinson, Alabama, passed away on Sept. 11, 2019.
He and his family moved to Birmingham in 1964 from West Columbia, South Carolina. He was a lifelong Lutheran spending 55 years at Faith Lutheran Church in Clay.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sheree Allred. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janet Awtrey; children, Robbie Breaux (Chuck) and Tim Awtrey (Terrie); siblings, Mary Hamson, John Martin Awtrey (Claire) and Judith Harris (Clyde); grandchildren, Paul Breaux, Audrey Miller, Jonathan Awtrey (Chad Cleary), Sean Breaux (Kim), Kristen Smith (Adam), and Erin Henson (Jonathan); great grandchildren, Aeris Svoboda, Zane Svoboda and Elizabeth Rose Henson.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
