JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed a trooper was involved in a high-speed chase through northeast Jefferson County on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019.
According ALEA Cpl. Thomas Whitten, the chase started around 11:30 a.m. on Interstate 59 North, after the trooper saw the motorcycle speeding. The chase started at the Roebuck Parkway exit and lasted until the Deerfoot Parkway exit when the trooper discontinued the chase.
Mark Dale, who was flying his drone at the time, caught the motorcycle on video, moments after the trooper stopped the chase. The blue motorcycle was caught on camera passing a car on Old Springville Road. You can see another car, in the opposite lane, having to slow down and pull to the side of the road to avoid hitting the motorcycle head-on.
The driver of the motorcycle got away.
