CLAY – The American Legion Riders (ALR) of District 21, Department of Alabama, announced that their 15th Annual 9/11 Commemorative Motorcycle Ride will start at The American Legion’s newest post – SSG M.W. Hosey Post 205, Clay-Trussville, AL on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at 11 a.m.
The purpose of the ride is to ensure the community remembers what happened during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and the ensuing years of war as the generations pass. Emphasis is placed on the lives lost that day among victims, the valiant first responders, and the lives that continue to be lost among our military personnel and those same first responders that continue to suffer from diseases acquired while working at ground zero.
Registration will start at 9:30 a.m. A recommended donation of $15 per rider and $5 per passenger is requested. Custom designed T-shirts are available for $20 each (large sizes $25) while supplies last and can be bought from members in the days prior to the ride. Complimentary coffee, biscuits, donuts, orange juice and milk are provided while supplies last. Bottled water, sodas and other snacks will be sold onsite.

The ride will be escorted by sworn law enforcement officers. The route will travel north and west of Clay and will end at American Legion Post 137 in Fairfield. There will be one rest stop in the Sumiton area.
At the conclusion of the ride at Post 137, there will be a large after-party with door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, a raffle for a large booze basket, food, drinks and a great time for riders and guests alike.
All proceeds will fund American Legion Rider programs and projects helping our local veterans and their families within the Jefferson County community.
