TUSCALOOSA — Former Clay-Chalkville and now current Alabama starting freshman nose tackle DJ Dale was named SEC co-defensive lineman of the week following week one of the college football season.
Dale was given the honor after his debut with the Crimson Tide. The Tide defeated Duke, 42-3, in their season opener. In the win, Dale recorded three tackles along with half of a tackle for a loss. He was part of an Alabama defense that allowed just 11 first downs and three points. Duke managed just 204 yards of total offense.
Dale shares the award with Florida defensive lineman Jonathan Greenard.
