SHELBY COUNTY — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information on a 17-year-old cold case.
According to detectives, the body of Hernan Torres was found Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in the New Slab area of Cahaba River. His body was at the end of River Road, near Bibb County. It was determined he was murdered and died of a gunshot wound. He was last seen driving his red 1998 Ford F-150 extended cab pickup truck bearing Alabama tag 8A1910B. The truck was never found.
Anyone who has any information regarding this homicide, particularly Torres’s activities late Sunday night into the early hours of the day his body was found, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama. You remain anonymous, and the information you provide to Crime Stoppers leading to the charge and arrest of an identified suspect could result in a cash reward up to $5,000.
