CENTER POINT — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said a standoff between a man and deputies all started with an argument over a wrecked truck.
Sgt. James Perry said a man barricaded himself inside his home on Reed Road around 2:30 a.m., on Aug. 20, after a woman called deputies to the location. The woman told investigators she is a friend of the man’s girlfriend and they had been in an argument over a truck that had been wrecked.
Deputies approached the house and the man refused to obey orders. A standoff continued throughout the morning hours.
The suspect was taken into custody before 9 a.m. He has been transferred to the hospital for treatment of minor scrapes and bruises. Sgt. Perry said those injuries happened when the man tried to resist arrest.
Center Point Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene.
No one else was hurt. Charges against the suspect are pending.
