SPRINGVILLE — “The Jealous Grandma” in Springville is the name of one of the best burgers in Alabama. Now, it’s up to voters to push the burger to the top of a contest being presented by the Alabama Cattleman’s Association.
The Jealous Grandma, at R & R Burgers in Springville, had an overwhelming amount of nominations for the contest, according to Kayla Greer, the ACA’s Director of Social Media and Communications.
“We received over 1,400 nominations throughout the last week of July,” said Greer. “In this case, R & R Burgers’ “Jealous Grandma Burger” was the one that was nominated the most for Region 4. We got an absolute slew of nominations for that burger. It was probably the second most nominated burger in the entire contest.”
Those nominations were split into eight regions and regional semi-finalist voting is now underway. Whoever wins out of each region will be entered into the Fiery Final Four. At that time, a secret panelist of judges will visit each restaurant to try their famous burgers. The purpose is to highlight local restaurants and to put beef on the consumer’s mind.
“We’re promoting beef,” said Greer. “It’s a great way to get consumers excited and get them engaged and get some voting for their local restaurants.”
On Facebook, there are three days of voting for each semi-finalist. Click here to cast your vote for Springville’s “Jealous Grandma” burger at R & R Burgers. Voting ends on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 9:20 a.m.
The contest is sponsored by the Alabama Beef Checkoff Program and paid for by Alabama Beef Farmers and Ranchers.
