TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Police Department is asking for the public to attend a community safety event hosted by Atlanta-based Flock Safety.
Local communities and homeowners associations are invited to attend the event at the Trussville Civic Center on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 6:30 p.m.
Flock Safety helps local law enforcement solve crimes by providing license-plate reading technology on roadways. Trussville Police Chief Eric Rush said the camera system would provide information about every car that came into a neighborhood.
“The neighborhood would have to buy the camera,” he said. “But they get access to that information and we get that as well.”
Rush said the software works as an extra blanket of security for communities.
“We would love for one person from every homeowner’s association to be there,” Rush said. “It’s a neighborhood watch and nobody has to actually get out and patrol. It’s an excellent tool.”
The meeting will cover topics such as property crimes and resident empowerment.
