Mary Jo Camp Gordon, 88, of Center Point, died peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on Friday, August 9, 2019.
Gordon, daughter of Alice Mellie Cox Camp, was born and raised in Arab, Alabama with brothers John, Thaxton, Nelson and Max, all of whom predeceased her. She graduated from Arab High School where she loved being a Majorette.
Gordon was predeceased by Charles H. Gordon, her beloved husband of fifty years, and her sweet son, Charles Howell Gordon, Jr. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Teresa Lynn Gordon, and numerous admiring nieces, nephews and friends.
The family lived in Birmingham where Gordon was employed for many years at American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO).
Gordon accomplished many things throughout her life, but her greatest joy was being a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was passionate about spending time with her family and friends at Huffman Baptist Church, as well as being a gracious hostess and fabulous cook.
Throughout her life, Gordon’s positive attitude and kind nature lifted the spirits of all who knew her. All her close and distant family and everyone who was fortunate enough to know Gordon felt enveloped by her loving, generous and peaceful spirit.
Her daughter, Teresa, wishes to thank Elmcroft Assisted Living, Trussville Health and Rehab, and Southern Care Hospice for their comfort and care of Mary Jo during her twilight years.
