Matthew James Smith, age 35, of Moody, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 10, 2019 after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Smith was an immigrant from England and was proud to become an American. He was a devoted member to First Baptist Church of Trussville. Matthew had a passion for life. He liked fast cars and adventure. He was a gun collector and enjoyed photography. He was a fan of Alabama Football and Oxford United Soccer. He enjoyed visiting the beach and traveling, especially taking trips to Disney World. Matthew had many hobbies and interests, but his greatest passion was his faith in Jesus Christ and his family.

He was wonderful man but the most amazing father to his beloved daughter, Quinn Smith. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at First Baptist Church of Trussville at 1 p.m. with Dr. Jeff Gardner and Pastor Buddy Champion officiating. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.
