CLAY — Items were stolen out of a vehicle parked in front of a convenience store in Clay Friday, Aug. 9, 2019.
According to Captain David Agee, with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the victim left the windows to his vehicle rolled down before entering a convenience store located on the 6700 block of Old Springville Road in Clay. When the victim returned to his vehicle, he observed that a cell phone and cash were missing. The incident occurred at 6:45 p.m., said Agee.
Law enforcement was able to access video surveillance and observed a shirtless white male lean into the victim’s vehicle and remove items, said Agee. Agee also noted that the offender’s vehicle was parked next to the victim’s vehicle.
“Store video and a follow-up investigation by the patrol deputy helped to identify the offender,” said Agee. “Deputies searched the known locations for the offender but could not locate him. Warrants for the arrest of the offender will be obtained.”
