HOOVER — The Sears at the Riverchase Galleria is one of several Kmart and Sears stores closing, according to a press release.
Sears Holding announced the latest round of closures on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019. The company blamed low productivity in stores and a weak retail environment on the closures.
The company will accelerate the expansion of its smaller store formats, including Home & Life stores and Sears Hometown stores.
Twenty-six large-format Kmart and Sears locations are slated to close in late October. The Sears Auto Centers at the locations will close in late August.
