BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a deadly pedestrian incident that happened in the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 1.
Officers were called to the scene at First Avenue and 50th Street North, around 1:54 a.m. Investigators believe the person was struck by a vehicle while in the crosswalk.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office responded and pronounced the person dead on the scene. The name of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Police have not provided information on the driver.
