TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City School system announced an interim principal for Hewitt-Trussville Middle School and a new principal for Magnolia Elementary School.
Mrs. Jennifer Abney was named interim principal for HTMS. Mrs. Abney holds a Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership from Samford University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Mrs. Abney played both volleyball and softball at the collegiate level.
Mrs. Abney has been principal of Magnolia Elementary School since July 2018. Before that time, Mrs. Abney served as Assistant Principal of Hewitt-Trussville High School, Interim Athletic Director for Trussville City Schools, a teacher and coach at Hewitt-Trussville High School and teacher and coach for seven years at Clay-Chalkville Middle School and High School.
TCS announced Dr. Phyllis Faust has been named Principal for Magnolia Elementary School. Dr. Faust holds a Doctorate of Instructional Leadership and Ed.S from Samford University, Masters of Science from the University of Alabama in Educational Leadership and Bachelors of Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Comprehensive Science.
Dr. Faust began her teaching career at Hewitt-Trussville Junior High where she taught eighth-grade science. Dr. Faust served as Assistant Principal of Paine Intermediate and then Principal of Hewitt-Trussville Middle School. She has served as Principal of the Alternative Learning Center since 2013. Dr. Faust also serves as the System Testing Coordinator, Science Coordinator, and English Language Learner Coordinator for the school system.
