BIRMINGHAM — The mayor of Birmingham is calling for an end to the violence after a four-year-old was shot and killed in Gate City.
Mayor Randall Woodfin tweeted about the passing of Jurnee Coleman, who was shot the night of Sunday, July 28, 2019, during an argument between two adults. Police responded to the shooting near Joppa Avenue and discovered the child had been struck in the head by a stray bullet. She was taken to the hospital but died three days later.
“All that is left is a void that her family must struggle to fill,” tweeted Mayor Woodfin. “So, we must pour into them. Please join me in uplifting this family. Please work with us as we expand our conflict resolution efforts.”
