JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened on Highway 79 near Fleming road Wednesday, July 17.
The call came in at 8:48 p.m., Capt. David Agee said.
According to law enforcement, the driver reported that a vehicle pulled beside her, occupied by four black males, and began shooting at her and her passenger. That vehicle then did a U-turn and drove off in the other direction.
The passenger was struck by gunfire and transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to law enforcement.
Deputies searched the area for the offender’s vehicle.
Authorities said the offense does not appear to be random but rather a target act.
