BIRMINGHAM — Birmingham Police are investigating the second homicide in two days, according to police officer Rodarius Mauldin.
Mauldin said detectives are conducting a homicide investigation into a drive-by shooting that occurred on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at approximately 10:53 p.m. A homicide in east Birmingham on Friday is also under investigation.
“Officers from the west precinct responded to the 1700 block of Avenue D on reports of a person shot,” Mauldin said. “Upon arrival, they located the victim unconscious lying in the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported the victim to UAB Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.”
Detective’s leads indicate shots were fired from a midsize sedan that drove by the location, Mauldin said.
There are no suspects in custody at this time.
The victim’s identity will be released upon confirmation and notification of immediate family.
