BIRMINGHAM — A judge has granted a motion for leave to file documents under seal in the Cracker Barrel shooting case, meaning some motions in the case will be filed without public access.
Attorneys for Bryan Hancock, the man charged with capital murder, said the move is not uncommon to seal some motions that are filed in which the motion discloses theories of the case.
The move should not impact public access of the case, because very few motions will be sealed.

Hancock, 22, of Pinson, is charged in the shooting death of Randy Young. Young died two days after being shot in the head in the parking lot of the Cracker Barrel on Norrell Drive in Trussville.

Hancock’s attorneys said the shooting was in self-defense. Young was not armed.
