TRUSSVILLE — It was a close game for the Huskies as they met Bob Jones for game one of the 7A AHSAA Semifinals at Phil English Stadium Friday, May 10.
The Huskies battled back from a three run deficit to tie things up at the end of the seventh and extend the game into extra innings. Battling back for the Huskies in their big inning were Keith Lanum and Kerrigan Edmonson. Each were walked, which advanced a runner home. A single from Ty Mauldin brought home the tying run.
A triple by Colten Carver in the top of the eighth inning gave the lead back to Bob Jones.
Bob Jones got to work early in the game with two runs in the top of the first; their third run came in the fourth inning off a double by Michael Strickland.
Cam Hill had the win for Bob Jones. He gave up zero hits and zero runs over two innings. Hill struck out two. Andrew Wright threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Waites took the loss for Hewitt-Trussville. He gave up zero runs on one hit over two-thirds of an inning. Waites struck out one.
Bob Jones had seven hits and zero errors.
Hewitt-Trussville had five hits and four errors.
Hewitt-Trussville will face Bob Jones again Saturday at 11 a.m. If necessary a third game will immediately follow game two.
