SPRINGVILLE — The Springville varsity softball team gave an outstanding performance at Thursday’s 11-0 shutout of Marion Central Catholic, Illinois.
The shutout was thanks to a combined effort of two very talented Springville pitchers.
Abbey Swaney had the mound for Springville through four innings. She gave up one hit and zero runs. Swaney struck out 10 and walked zero.
Emily Robinson pitched one inning for Springville where she delivered the game-ending strike out.
Springville’s offense was on point, delivering six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Tigers McKenzie Brown, Robinson, Hannah King, Hanna Stearns and Kyndall Gipson all contributed runs during that big first inning.
The Tigers were also able to put up three homeruns for the day with Brown, Gipson and Robinson contributing one homer apiece.
Springville totaled 14 hits for the day with Robinson, Stearns, Brown, Gipson and McKenzie Spivey putting up multiple hits. Robinson was the hit leader going 3 for 3 in the game.
Springville committed zero errors while Marion Central Catholic, Illinois, had one.
