BIRMINGHAM — In an absolute stunner, the Pinson Valley High Indians mounted a come-from-behind victory against defending 6A Champs the Carver-Montgomery Wolverines to clinch the state championship.
The Indians managed to hold the Wolverines to seven attempted shots in the fourth quarter and logged three 3-pointers.

Game MVP Kam Woods led the Indians with 25 points in the game, five steals and was 3-of-4 at the foul line. Ga’Quincy “Koolaid” McKinstry had 15 points and five rebounds for Pinson Valley. Geordon Pollard had 11 points, six rebounds and blocked two shots.
Jaykwon Walton led Carver with 14 points and six rebounds. Centarrio Hinson had 10 points and was 5-for-5 on the foul line. Jereme Robinson scored nine points and nine rebounds for the Wolverines. Juwon Gaston cleared eight boards.
Pinson Valley took the 6A state title in boys basketball only three months after the school won the 6A football championship for the state.
The victory marks Barber’s third basketball championship and his first with Pinson Valley High School.
