Capt. David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said Walter Edward Juskiewicz has been charged with capital murder and attempted murder.
Agee reported that on Monday at approximately 8:00 p.m., sheriff’s deputies, along with officers from the Trussville Police Department, responded to a shooting on Service Road near Trussville. Deputies found a man suffering from a gunshot wound laying on the floor of a business. That victim died Wednesday morning.
Officials said the victim has been identified as 39-year-old Arnulfo Ortega. Ortega was going to buy a car from Juskiewicz, a co-worker, on the night of Feb. 25. Juskiewicz showed up and began shooting at the victims. Ortega was struck, but the other victim was able to escape.
Agee reported that detectives were able to locate and interview the second victim. After reviewing the evidence with the District Attorney’s Office, Juskiewicz was arrested and charged with capital murder in the death of Arnulfo Ortega and attempted murder on the second victim.
There is no bond on the capital murder charge, but there is a $50,000.00 bond on the attempted murder charge.
