From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
BIRMINGHAM –Just hours after police investigated a shooting at Linn Park in downtown Birmingham that left a 65-year-old man with life threatening injuries, they were called to a second shooting in the 1600 block of Third Avenue North.
The area is about a block of the Lyric and Alabama theaters.
The two shootings do not appear to be related.
North Precinct Sgt. Talana Brown told AL.com that multiple shots were fired in a possible drive-by. One man was grazed on the nose and the other was shot in the groin area, Robinson reported. Multiple vehicles were also struck by bullets.
Earlier on Saturday, two people were shot in a drive-by shooting in Ensley. One of those victims was a 16-year-old boy.
So far, a total of five people have been shot in Birmingham over the weekend. That follows an outbreak of shooting violence last weekend that left seven people shot from Thursday through Sunday.
