MORRIS — Police from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, along with officer from the Morris and Warrior departments, are investigating the death of a man who was shot outside of his estranged wife’s mobile home off of Morris Majestic Road, according to Carol Robinson.
The incident happened this morning after an adult white male, whose name has not yet been publicly released, reportedly came to the home with a woman who said that she was his girlfriend. Police later responded after 9:40 a.m. to a report of someone being shot.
Officers arrived at the scene and discovered the victim with a gunshot wound to his chest. The victim’s estranged wife has been detained for questioning.
Police said that they were told the pair were there to pick up children, though apparently there were none at the home.
The case continues to be investigated. According to the report, this was the second homicide in Jefferson County today after a man was found shot to death in Birmingham.
