BIRMINGHAM — Detectives with the Birmingham Police Department are conducting a homicide investigation concerning a shooting that occurred on Sunday, Feb. 26, in 1300 block of 18th Street Southwest.
The victim, who has been identified as 23-year-old Torre Jackson, was shot multiple times and died of his injuries Sunday.
On Sunday, Feb. 26, around 1 p.m., officers from the West Precinct responded to the listed location on a male shot. Upon arrival, officers located the victim who was suffering from gunshot wounds to the arm and head. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded and transported the victim to UAB hospital where he was immediately taken into surgery.
Detectives learned the victim went to the location with his aunt to retrieve a vehicle that she and her then boyfriend shared. As the victim and his aunt were leaving the scene, the aunt’s boyfriend’s brother fired several shots into the vehicle striking the victim. The suspect later turned himself in. The victim was later placed in a rehabilitation facility. On Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, the lead detective was notified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office stating the victim had died from his injuries.
