CENTER POINT –Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting and homicide of a 39-year-old male at a Center Point apartment complex that occurred early Wednesday morning.
The shooting took place at the Parkway Mirage apartments at 11800 block of Center Brook Lane, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
It appears the victim was confronted outside the back of his apartment where he was shot and killed by more than one suspect. The shooter(s) then fled the area in a black car and a white car of unknown make and model. It is believed the victim knew the suspects and was specifically targeted. The motive is unknown but believed drug related, Randy Christian said in a statement.
A witness told WIAT that “he heard about five or six loud gunshots shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. He said it sounded like an assault rifle.”
