TRUSSVILLE – The Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama will host a yard sale October 15 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Camp Coleman.
The event is the first in a series of fundraisers to revitalize each of the council camp pools. The goal is to raise $5,000 during the weekend events. The total cost
to revitalize the pool at Camp Coleman will be nearly $60,000.
Items for sale include camping supplies, furniture, electronics, sporting goods, toys, Girl Scout memorabilia, Girl Scout troop supplies and more.
There will be a pre-sale event at Camp Coleman Friday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Attendees will be able to participate in a silent auction and purchase items before Saturday’s sale, for a $5 admission fee.
“Our goal is to provide top-notch outdoor programming at our camps,” Karen Peterlin, chief executive officer of the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama, said. “All of our camp pools are in need of repairs and this yard sale will help us raise funds so our Girl Scouts can participate in one of their most requested summer camp activities.”
Camp Gertrude Coleman is on the Cahaba River in Trussville and is the third oldest operating Girl Scout camp in the country. The camp provides water activities, horseback riding, ropes courses and more.
There are over 13,000 girl scouts in 36 countries. The Girl Scouts began over 100 years ago in Savannah, Georgia.
