Class 6A Clay-Chalkville, coming off a 3-2 win over Oxford, will host Gardendale on Thursday in a Class 6A, Area 12, Region 4 match. The Cougars are 13-8, 2-0 in the region. Gardendale is 2-4 and 1-0 in region play as it headed into matches Tuesday night with Center Point (3-9, 0-2). Center Point will also face Wenonah.
Pinson Valley (1-4, 1-2) hosted Homewood and Carver on Tuesday.
Class 7A Hewitt-Trussville (4-11, 0-2) tangled with some tough north Alabama competition recently. The Huskies lost to Danville and Albertville, knocked off Randolph then lost in straight sets to Sparkman 25-21, 25-16.
The Huskies were scheduled to travel to meet Hueytown on Tuesday night. They swept the tri match, going 2-0.
They hosted Grissom in an area match on Thursday night at Bryant Bank Arena. Grissom took the match 3-1 and the Huskies took second in the area, leaving the Huskies and Gadsden City to battle for third.
Clay-Chalkville and Hewitt will meet during the Husky Challenge on Saturday.
