MCCALLA – The 8th annual Baby Steps Memorial 5k and 1 mile fun run will take place August 13 at Tannehill Ironworks Historical Sate Park.
The run was started to give grieving families and their friends the opportunity to come together and remember their loved ones in a supportive, caring environment.
Registration the day of the race is $30 for the 5k and $20 for the 1 mile run. Children age 5 and under can race free with a parent’s registration. Packet pick up will begin at 7 a.m., with the race kicking off at 8 a.m.
There will be refreshments, door prizes and face painting for children.
All proceeds from the run will benefit the Amelia Center at Children’s of Alabama. The Amelia Center is a non-profit program of Children’s of Alabama, which has served as a place for grieving parents, children and grandparents since 1997. The center offers free counseling to those who have lost loved ones, and the center operates off of donations.
