SHELBY COUNTY – A three-vehicle crash on Thursday has claimed the life of one man.
The crash occurred at 11:50 p.m. on I65, one mile south of Alabaster.
The driver of a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer was parked on the shoulder of the interstate when his vehicle was struck by a 2008 Nissan Altima, driven by Daniel Joseph Robinson, 28 of Calera.
The Lancer was then struck by a 2006 Hyundai Sonota, and the Lancer caught fire.
The driver of the Lancer was pronounced dead at the scene, but his identification won’t be released until an examination by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences is complete.
Robinson was not injured, and the driver of the Sonota was injured and taken to an area hospital.
Robinson is currently in the custody of Shelby County Police and has been charged with DUI following the crash. his bond is $1000.
