TRUSSVILLE – Hewitt-Trussville senior four-star athlete Noah Igbinoghene narrowed his list of college choices to five, and named his co-leaders over the weekend via Twitter.
“First off, I would like to thank God for blessing me with the ability to play this game,” he said. “I am also very thankful for all the coaches that have been recruiting me through this process.”
The football and track star names Duke and Notre Dame as his co-leaders with the other three in no certain order. They are Virginia Tech, Missouri and Maryland.
The speedy, athletic Igbinoghene has shuffled through more than 20 offers. The AAU triple jump champ appears headed out of state. Neither Alabama nor Auburn has offered him, although UAB, which recently added Huskies teammates David Acfalle and Grayson Cash to its commitments, did offer him.
Igbinoghene could end up at defensive back in college, but the 6-foot, 190-pounder accumulated just shy of 1,000 all-purpose yards last year as a receiver/rusher/returner for Hewitt last season. He caught 33 passes for 522 yards and seven touchdowns, added another 151 yards on 25 rushing carries, and had 194 return yards on nine kickoff returns.
He plans to continue his track career in college.
