CLAY – Bo Johnson has announced he will be running for election to Clay City Council place 4. Johnson was appointed to the city council to replace Mark Halstead when he resigned.
Johnson is a longtime resident of Clay, graduating from Hewitt-Trussville High School in 1986, and Christian University in 2006, with a BS in Theology.
Johnson has served on the council for two years, and serves as the council liaison for business and community development.
“My vision for community development is to have our government, churches and businesses all working together in unity for the benefit of our schools and citizens,” Johnson said in a press release.
Johnson is the founder and senior pastor of Refuge, formerly Living Word Church, in Clay. He also works full time as the development manager at The Dannon Project. Johnson is a board member at Agape Academy, the Barnabas Foundation and the Alabama League of Municipalities Human Development committee.
“I founded Clay United, an association of church and government leaders in the Clay area to further my vision for the community of Clay,” Johnson said.
Johnson has coached Clay rec soccer, Clay softball and has served on the Clay Pinson Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
Johnson and his wife Khristie have been married for 26 years, and have four children.
