CLAY – Clay resident for more than two decades, Ben Thackerson, has announced his run for reelection to place 3 on the Clay City Council.
Thackerson has served as a member of City Council since 2012, and has also served on the Clay Parks Board from 2000-08 and as the Parks Board Chair from 2008-12. He is the current council liaison to the Parks Committee.
“Local government is important. The council is responsible for the overall finances of the City,” Thackerson said. “I look forward to continuing fiscal responsibility, while improving the quality of life for our citizens.”
Thackerson has worked at the Alabama Department of transportation for 46 years, currently as a construction manager.
Thackerson has been married to his wife, Denise, for 36 years, and they have two daughters, both of which went to Clay Elementary and Clay-Chalkville High School.
