TRUSSVILLE – Trussville resident MaKenzie Ward won the 2016 National America Miss Alabama Jr. Teen pageant held on June 24.
Ward will now move on to the National Pageant, which will take place at Disneyland in California during Thanksgiving week. During this time Ward will represent Alabama while compete for her share of over $500,000 in cash and prizes.

“I participate in pageants to learn poise and to strengthen my interview and public speaking skills,” Ward said. “I love National American Miss because it provides opportunities to grow in all of these areas and in community service. Serving others is my heart. I volunteer regularly with Relay for Life, Dancers Fighting Cancer and Church of the Highlands. I was honored to win the Volunteer Service Award on pageant week as well as the overall title.”
Ward is a Hewitt-Trussville High School student, and participates in the Trussville City Group, National Junior Honor Society and she is on the Hewitt-Trussville Highsteppers.
Each year, the National America Miss Pageants award $1.5 million in cash, scholarships and prizes to young women nationwide.
“I am so blessed that God has given me this opportunity to represent such a wonderful organization,” Ward said. “I’m so thankful. It’s an honor to be the 2016 National American Miss Alabama Junior Teen. I give God all the glory for helping me to do my best. I hope to make Alabama proud in the National pageant in November.”
