Victims in I59 accident near Springville identified

SPRINGVILLE — A single-vehicle crash at 1:35 p.m. Thursday, June 23, has claimed the lives of two Hokes Bluff men. The crash occurred on I59 Northbound, one mile north of Springville.

Winston Lovell Williams, 86, and Jerry Donald Heard, 75, were killed when the 2009 GMC pickup that Williams was driving left the roadway and struck the bridge overpass on Alabama 23. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. The accident temporarily shut down all lanes of I59 NB, diverting traffic to the Argo exit.

State Troopers are continuing to investigate.
