BIRMINGHAM – The second annual Magic City Mega Bowl will take place June 18-19 at the George Ward, Inverness and Greg Carter Memorial disc golf courses.
There are 219 competitors signed up from across Alabama and 13 additional states.
The tournament will be an officially sanctioned Professional Disc Golf Association event, and professionals will be competing for cash prizes, while amateurs will compete for trophies in each skill division.
“The event will be a great way for people to are new to the sport to come out and spectate some of the best players in the game,” said Eli Kirkley, DGB volunteer.
Players with the best scores after the first three rounds will begin teening off around noon on June 19 at George Ward Park for a final 9 holes of competition. This will determine each divisional winner.
Disc golf is one of the world’s fastest growing sports, and is played similarly to traditional golf. Players use a flying disc instead of a ball and clubs. The object is to throw the disc into the basket in the fewest number of throws.
