From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
CENTER POINT –Jefferson County Commissioner Joe Knight said driver’s license renewals have resumed at the county courthouse in Center Point.
“We’ve been working on this for a long time,” Knight said. “Everything was tested last week and the equipment checked out fine, so we’re ready to go.”
Jefferson County officials were forced to close the satellite offices in 2011 amid financial troubles. The Center Point courthouse was reopened in 2012 with limited services such a tag renewals and business licenses.
“This will make it much easier on our citizens in northeast Jefferson County,” Knight said. “It was worth the work to get this service restored and make it more convenient for people to have their have a driver’s license renewed without going downtown or to another county.”
Knight said the service was available immediately.

I know it said renewal but what about first license with a yellow card. So no test is required. Just the paperwork process?

They don’t offer driver’s test at this time.

She doesn’t need to take the test. She received a yellow card from the school. But it’s not a renewal either. I will call to verify. I just thought you might know. Thanks!

Go to Oneonta courthouse

That were we for her permit and where have gone in the past. But I much rather go a few minutes from my home verses driving to Oneonta. Especially since I just hand them the paperwork and they process her license. She has a yellow card from school which means they do not have to take a driving test.

can you get the star id there?

I went to Ashville, they were nice, polite and friendly. The other customer there were also nice, polite and friendly. In Ashville there was only a very small wait. Nope, next time I need to go it will be Ashville. Go around lunch and eat in Ashville. The have a great Mexican Restaurant just off of I 59 and a Mom & Pop meat and 3 up the street on the left after you get off of I 59.

Best to go to Asheville. Centerpoint is one line for anything and people don’t care they are in a line with others. Some don’t bother to shower or wear deodorant and just stink. Its disgusting. I had to go about 2 weeks ago for something not handled in Asheville.

It’s worth it to drive to Ashville. They are very fast, friendly, and normally no line.
