BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, April 6 the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue a project to Widen and Raise bridges on I-65 northbound and southbound as follows:
Wednesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 7 from 7 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m., there will be lane closures on I-65 southbound, just south of Exit 261-A. The lane closures will be necessary to prepare for a bridge slab replacement the following weekend.
All temporary traffic control signage and warnings will be in place.
This work is pertaining to Phase I of the I-59/20 Downtown Bridge Project. Brasfield & Gorrie was awarded this contract at $7.1 million.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
