Allegedly, Armstrong struck the victim with the door of his vehicle, exited his vehicle and forcibly took the female victim’purse. The victim was not injured during the incident. Armstrong then allegedly fled the scene.
Some good Samaritans who were close by when the incident occurred managed to gather information about the vehicle Armstrong was driving.
Birmingham robbery detectives and the south precinct Task Force officers arrived and began the search for the suspect.
Special thanks to the Leeds Police Department and St. Clair County Sheriff’s office. They helped a great deal in this case to quickly arrest the suspect.
Armstrong, who has a history of theft charges, was found at a home in St. Clair county.
“As police officers, we have soft spots when it comes to certain members of our populace,” said Birmingham police Sgt. Bryan Shelton. “We were determined to find out who did this crime, and bring them to justice. We are grateful for the help received from partner agencies and the citizens who saw what happened. This is an example of a community of neighbors working together.”
Armstrong is being held on a 60K Bond with two counts of Robbery 3rd Degree.
