BIRMINGHAM — A three-vehicle crash at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, has claimed the life of one and injured two others, according to Chuck Daniel of the Alabama State Troopers office..
Terrance Leonard Hill, 29, of Pell City, was driving a 2010 Mercury Mariner which collided with a 2014 Freightliner driven by Sonny Jerome Sweeney, 49, of Bradenton, Fla. Hill, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Sweeney was not injured.
The Mercury Mariner was then struck by a 2015 Mack tractor trailer driven by Allen Nichols, 63, of Gainesville, Ga. Nichols was injured and taken to UAB Hospital. Dorron Ross Howard, 31, of Birmingham, who was a passenger in the Mercury Mariner, was injured and transported to UAB Hospital.
The crash occurred on Interstate 20 one mile east of Pell City. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
