TRUSSVILLE – A slow offensive second and third quarter from Hewitt-Trussville led to a 19-point home loss on Thursday night to Homewood.
The Patriots came away on top, 59-40, in the non-area matchup thanks in large part to a hot first half. Homewood took a 42-22 lead into the break.
Damon Harper led Hewitt-Trussville with a pair of triples early, but was unable to keep that momentum rolling. Chris Lewis and Josh Monski also delivered 3-pointers in the opening quarter to finish the frame trailing Homewood 18-19.
It was the following 16 minutes of play that told the story. The Patriots outscored their hosts 33-9 from the beginning of the second to the end of the third quarter.
